Cerrado del Castillo is only made when the harvest achieves the maximum expression of the terroir and in addition has total balance.
This only happens in exceptional years in wich the growing conditions were right for obtaining a harvest with perfect ripeness.
It is a wine made from 35-year-old tempranillo vines grown in the walled enclosure of the castle.
After strict selection of the clusters and after completion of alcoholic fermentation, the wine is kept in casks in the castle basement where it is left for approximately 18 months.
It is a red wine with an intense black-cherry colour and intense, elegant aromas. Its balance and persistent aromatic bouquet make it a long wine with a lot of flavour and a lovely finish. It reveals a sensory character which cannot be matched and which faithfully reflect its roots.
The top wine from a boutique bodega in a renovated 14th century castle. 100% Tempranillo from old bush vines, give lots of concentration and elegance, wrapped in toasty oak.

Another "wow" wine and also a generous dose of "OMG". This wine you just have to try. Danish Winemaker Peter Sisseck is the genius behind one of Spain´s most cult and expensive wines "Pingus" and knows and understands the Ribera del Duero region intimately. PSI is a relatively new project,...
Terras Gauda is a large and reliable producer of Albariños and other Galician whites, based in the O-Rosal subzone of the Rías Baixas region. This verdant area is the furthest south of the region and this has no doubt contributed to the slightly weightier, peachy style of white here. Whilst large,...
I love this wine! Brilliant, mouthfilling, textured genius from Rafael Palacios. Made from the über-trendy Godello grape, grown at 600m altitude in Valdeorras in NW Spain, this type of wine is right at the forefront of Spanish winemaking. Showing citrus, fennel and stonefruit notes and a bit like a Chardonnay...
Fernando Remírez de Ganuza founded this winery in 1989 in Samaniego in Rioja Alavesa, after spending his whole life in the vineyard business. He now owns around 80 hectares, scattered around some of the best sites in north west Rioja. Right from the start his main focus has been on...
