Antonello, an old soldier that was brought to the north of spain to fight in the war, taught Tomás Ortíz de Zárate, the first mbasque moonshiner, how to produce vodka. They used an original recipe brought from Piedmont’s meadows and took advantage of local potatoes, plentiful and good-quality, to hand-craft the first spirits. This old recipe has been preserved to the present days, allowing Basque Moonshiners craft their own spirits for more than 70 years.
BASMOON Vodka is made with Agria variety, a sowing local potato. Nowadays, it is handcrafted in a distillery founded in 2014 with traditional methods. Five-times distilled premium vodka combining a smooth, sweet and balanced taste with citric touches as well as cocoa and liquorice.
