This is the first of the "new" wines which put Priorat back on the map in the late 80s / early 90s. Back in 1978 René Barbier recognized something special here, amidst these ancient vines and steep sun-blasted terraces and bought some vineyards and set to work. The wines emerging from these efforts are big, deep black and showing profound complex aromas which develop in the glass. Very full flavoured, this wine stands out as it somehow retains balance despite its concentration and definitely shows a sense of place.
