Excellent expression of Rioja from this high-end winery, located near Haro, in one of the most historic parts of La Rioja. Despite the historic location, Roda wines tend to be fairly modern expressions of Rioja, with concentrated dark fruits and a solid backbone of French oak present.
Roda I Reserva comes from a harvest classified as "Muy buena" (very good) and is starting to drink nicely now. What I love about this classy wine is it´s impeccable balance and the fruit which is dense, but not too dense nor jammy. The oak is judged to perfection, sitting quietly on the sidelines, present whenever needed, but not intrusive. Roda I wines age surprisingly well, with the 1994 and 1995 holding up very well at a tasting in 2013 to celebrate the winery´s 25th anniversary.

This wine also was also listed first in the region in the New York Times. PLEASE...
Another stunning wine from the breathtaking Ribeira Sacra region, this one winning a Regional Trophy in Decanter Magazine. Juicy perfumed Mencía, aged for 12 months in new French oak. PLEASE NOTE THAT SPECIAL SHIPPING RATES APPLY TO ALCOHOLIC ITEMS.
The top wine from a boutique bodega in a renovated 14th century castle. 100% Tempranillo from old bush vines, give lots of concentration and elegance, wrapped in toasty oak. This is a single vineyard wine, made from a vineyard enclosed within the walls of the castle compound itself. PLEASE NOTE...
Contino wines are masterful examples of Rioja, produced under the careful guidance of industry veteran Jesús Madrazo. Not the showiest wines in the region, the house style is modernised textbook Rioja, with a nice elegance and perfect balance.
